
Volunteer at natHacks 2025!
natHacks 2025 is a 64-hour competition where interdisciplinary teams build solutions to real-world challenges in MedTech, EdTech, and EcoTech. This year, natHacks will take place from November 7–10 on the 8th floor of the Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering at the University of Alberta.
Volunteers play a key role in making this large-scale hackathon possible by supporting participants, facilitating logistics, and creating a welcoming environment for everyone involved.
Volunteers may take on a variety of responsibilities depending on event needs. Please review the responsibilities below carefully to ensure this opportunity is a good fit for you.

Provide tech help for participants using biosensing hardware (training provided)
Help manage equipment check-outs and troubleshooting
Please note that the hardware volunteer role requires an interview, and hardware volunteers are selected by the natHacks 2025 hardware team.

Support livestreams, photography, video recording, or audio setup

Monitor the natHacks 2025 Discord server
Respond to questions and flag issues to organizers
Help moderate live sessions or chat when needed

General event logistics
Help run mini-events (e.g., networking, workshops, wellness activities)
Provide backup support to other volunteers

Monitor shared spaces and flag any safety or accessibility concerns
Support participant well-being by offering help or directing to wellness resources
Assist with crowd flow and ensure the environment remains respectful and inclusive

Track presentation times during judging
Ensure sessions stay on schedule

Assist with transporting materials
Help set up and pack down event spaces

Welcome attendees and provide event info
Confirm waivers are signed and help with check-in
Distribute materials or emergency plans if needed

Assemble swag bags before the event (T-shirts, stickers, etc.)
Organize and distribute swag during check-in

Help participants navigate the venue and campus
Direct people to key areas like restrooms and exits

Keep common areas tidy and surfaces sanitized
Support food service with setup and cleanup

Set up and distribute meals, snacks, and drinks
Keep refreshment areas organized

After submitting this form, we will contact you to schedule an online training session. We will also provide you with a volunteer handbook, schedule assignments, and details about the in-person volunteer training session in mid-October.
